John Coulter Supports TIME’s UP Legal Defense Fund; Joins as Network Attorney

Published on Jan 31, 2019 at 12:31 pm in Employment Law.

McMath Woods partner, John Coulter, has joined a network of nearly 800 attorneys across the country who are partnering with the TIME’s UP Legal Defense Fund to provide legal assistance to women who experience sexual misconduct including assault, harassment, abuse and related retaliation in the workplace. The TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, housed by the National Women’s Law Center – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides legal resources and financial support in select workplace sexual harassment and sexual harassment-related retaliation matters.

The fund was created to help defray legal and public relations costs in select cases based on specific criteria and availability of funds. As a Legal Network Attorney, John will assist the fund in related matters in the state of Arkansas by providing consultations and possible representation for victims of sexual harassment and retaliation.

After practicing law for over twenty years and specializing in the areas of labor and employment, John is no stranger to cases involving workplace sexual harassment and providing counsel to individuals who are in the midst of difficult or distressing situations. John is dedicated to help those who seek legal counsel through the TIME’s UP Legal Defense Fund.  With effective communication, thorough and in-depth case evaluation and preparation, John works to create the fair playing field necessary to contest employers, who might otherwise have considerably more power to wield.

According to the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund’s 2018 annual report, the fund has responded to more than 3,700 workers seeking help from all 50 states by providing them the names of lawyers willing to offer a free initial consultation.  Approximately $750,000 has also been awarded in outreach grants to 18 organizations that work with low-income workers such as retail workers, farmworkers, nail salon workers and poultry workers. The grants assist in ensuring that survivors know how to contact the fund, are aware of their rights and receive help as they find representation.
