McMath Woods Files Suit on Behalf of the Ozark Society to Halt Natural Gas Development in the Ozark National Forest

Published on Oct 31, 2011 at 9:40 pm in Environmental.

McMath Woods attorneys Sam Ledbetter and Ross Noland filed suit today on behalf of their client, the Ozark Society, to stop natural gas leasing, exploration and development in the Ozark National Forest. The suit alleges the federal government has violated the National Environmental Policy Act by increasing natural gas development in the Ozark National Forest without studying the impacts on endangered species, roadless areas and wild and scenic rivers. The suit also alleges the defendants have not accounted for the unique environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing. The Ozark Society filed a Motion for Preliminary Injunction simultaneously with the Complaint. The Motion request that the Court immediately order the defendants from engaging in further surface disturbing activities until after the defendants have complied with the applicable environmental laws.
