FDA panel wants more risk information on Yaz pills

Published on Dec 9, 2011 at 9:57 pm in Consumer Awareness.

A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel has determined that the labeling on widely-used birth control pills is inadequate and should be updated “to emphasize recent data suggesting a higher risk of blood clots with the drugs than older contraceptive pills.” Although there is conflicting data on the actual negative side-effects of the drugs, experts agree the current wording on labels is “inadequate and incomplete.”
