Arkansas Toxic Injury General Information
Toxic injury and environmental harm are perhaps among the most challenging areas for lawyers, attorneys and law firms representing plaintiffs. McMath Woods, PA has been handling such cases for thirty years and has several lawyers with particular experience in different aspects of toxic and environmental damage and injury.
Arkansas Toxic Injury Experience
The firms first major case in the area involved the residents living near the Vertac Chemical pesticide plant in Jacksonville Arkansas. Since that time the firm has been involved in a string of cases involving toxic exposures, injury or environmental damage to communities and individuals. These have included actions against Tyson foods regarding ground water contamination, an action against El Dorado Chemical related to emissions of various air pollutants, including nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide and a similar action for air pollution emitted by the Farmland oil refinery in Coffeeville Kansas. An action against the 3M Corporation related to rock dust emissions from their Little Rock granular plant that was causing air pollution, and most recently several hundred residents in an odor case against Koppers Industries and an action for citizens of the City of Stamps regarding the environmental impact of waste material disposed of near that community.
In addition to the above, the law firm has been involved in a significant number of ground water contamination cases involving leakage of gasoline, benzene, and other constituent components from under ground and above ground storage tanks. These actions have involved remediation, trespass and personal injury claims. While workers compensation rarely provides an adequate remedy for work place toxic exposures and injury, it is sometimes possible to maintain actions against the suppliers and manufactures of chemicals and toxins where they have not provided adequate warning to the worker and or employer regarding health hazards associated with the toxic properties of their products. Few if any law firms in Arkansas, have the depth of experience that McMath Woods P.A. has in this area, experience that allows us to evaluate potential claims with a great deal more speed and efficiency than most law firms.
