Polluting Industries

McMath Woods Pollution Cases in Arkansas

McMath Woods P.A. has been a pioneer in protecting Arkansans, their property and their natural resources from pollution. Our firm first became involved with environmental litigation in the 1970s when we represented the neighbors of the Vertac facility in Jacksonville, Arkansas, which had made herbicides during the Vietnam War. Experience from this case encouraged the firm to undertake representation of other communities impacted by neighboring industries.

McMath Woods Pollution Litigagion History

Over the last three decades our firm has represented numerous individuals and entire munities (sometimes hundreds of households) in complex litigation involving air pollution, groundwater pollution and toxic exposures. Representative cases include a chicken processing plant in Green Forest, a fertilizer plant in El Dorado, a rock-crushing facility in College Station, a wood-treating plant in North Little Rock, a medical waste incinerator in Little Rock, a secondary aluminum smelting plant in Stamps and an oil refinery in southeast Kansas. In each case, we seek not only to gain full and just monetary compensation for our clients but also to ensure that the pollution is cleaned up and the polluter complies with all applicable laws in the future.

Pollution Litigation Specialists at McMath Woods, P.A.

Today, two firm members focus on environmental litigation and our firm is involved in a broad spectrum of environmental litigation, including industrial pollution, groundwater pollution from underground storage tanks, oilfield waste, pesticide drift, toxic mold, as well as claims against federal and state governmental agencies that have not fulfilled mandates to protect the environment. The firm's clients include not only residents of effected communities, but also landowners and small businesses adversely impacted by pollution as well as government bodies with environmental concerns and conservation organizations.

Environmental litigation requires experience in the complex web of environmental regulations, familiarity with the technical sciences, and the resources to sustain protracted battles against large corporations. McMath Woods is proud to be one of the few plaintiffs firms in the South focusing on this area of practice.

See our case synapsis of Work Vs. Tyson and Jones, et al. v. Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing (3M) for examples of environmental cases that made a difference in Arkansas.
