McMath Woods has been involved in recent litigation with insurance companies over their denials of our client's fire damage claims. Everyone should understand that the insurance companies have certain rights and obligations when adjusting and investigating these claims. Many times an insurance company will ask a person claiming a fire loss to give what is called by the industry as a "statement under oath." Prior to doing so, McMath Woods believes that it would be smart for a person to consult with experienced legal counsel. Also, in Arkansas insurance companies are typically required to pay the full insured value of the home if it is a "total loss." Know your rights before assuming that your insurance company is just investigating to do their job. Keep in mind that claims can be denied or delayed significantly by your insurance company putting you in a bind.

The number of distracted drivers on our roads is alarming. With continued advancements in smart phones, drivers have more opportunities than ever to divert their attention from the road. McMath Woods is commited to continuing to try and remind people that it is very dangerous to talk, text, read text, send email, read email, or simply check messages while you are driving. We all seem to think that we can multitask. It is other drivers, not us, who are dangerous when they "play" with their phone. Truth is all of us are dangers to ourselves and others when we don't concentrate on the road. Keep your eyes up and your ears off the phone. We are going to try and post here in the next few days several studies on the dangers of distracted driving.
